Highlights of Indochina - 13 days

Itinerary in detail

Days 1: Saigon Arrival

Arrive Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Saigon City Tour – Cu Chi Tunels

Marvel at the pace of change in this youthful energetic city as we embark on a walking tour along historic Dong Khoi Street – the former Rue Catinat. Gain an insight into recent history with visits to the Reunification Palace and War Remnants Museum, and wow your senses on a walk through the Binh Tay wholesale market in Chinatown. We also visit the amazing Cu Chi tunnels,

Day 3: Mekong Delta

Spend a day cruising the canals and wandering the shady lanes, visiting the floating markets of the Mekong Delta. Be back to Saigon in the afternoon.

Days 4: Hanoi & Halong Bay

Fly to Hanoi, Vietnam’s gracious capital. This afternoon, experience the fascinating streets of the Old Quarter, visit the ancient Temple of Literature and infamous Hanoi Hilton, and enjoy an evening performance of Hanoi’s famous water puppets.

Day 5: Hanoi - Halong

Travel to magical Halong Bay where we cruise among the thousands of limestone islands in the World Heritage-listed bay, staying overnight on our comfortable private boat.

Day 6: Halong -  Hanoi

Enjoy a free afternoon to explore this enchanting city, perhaps taking a walk around Hoan Kiem Lake or doing some shopping in some of the city’s markets and boutiques.

Days 7: Luang Prabang

Fly to Luang Prabang (Laos PDR), a gorgeous World Heritage-listed town located on the banks of the Mekong River. Gain an insight into the local culture as we enter ornate monasteries and chat with the local monks.

Day 8: Pakou Cave

Take a boat trip to Pak Ou Caves where hundreds of Buddha effigies are kept in accordance with local traditions, and enjoy a fun Lao cooking class.

Day 9: Kuangsi waterfall

Rise early to witness the ancient ritual of local monks collecting alms at dawn, visit the beautiful Kuang Si Falls and take time out to enjoy the town’s relaxed atmosphere with a game of petanque

Days 10: Luang Prabang - Siemreap

Fly to Siemreap (Morning flight)

Later start to explore south gate of Angkor Thom: the Bayon temple, the Baphuon, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Afternoon visit Preah Khan, Neak Prean & Pre Rup  temple and view sunset from the top of Phnom Bakheng Hill. Enjoy a traditional Apsara dance performance and overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 11: Siem Reap

After breakfast visit the Ta Prohm temple which is a wonderful combination of human genius and natural beauty. Giant trees have grown here for centuries. Turn to visit Ta keo, the  "Jewel of Crystal" dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva that was built at the end of the 10th century. Continue to visit the Thommanon, the Chau Say temples and the natural lake of Sras Srang.
Afternoon visit Angkor Wat. The founder of the temple was Suryavarman II who reigned Cambodia from 1113 to 1152 and built the five towers in the 12th century to dedicate to the Hindu God Vishnu. The plan of the pyramidal conception of the temple combined with spaces, alleys, ditches is an ancient masterpiece of architectural design and construction. 

Day 12: Banteay Srey

After breakfast spend the entire morning in one of the jewels of Angkor, the Banteay Srey Temple which means "Citadel of Women". This temple is built of pink sandstone and presents the most graceful carvings in stone you might ever seen in your life. The temple is dedicated to the god Shiva. Go on to Kbal Spean, the river of thousand Lingas, the phallic symbol of the God Shiva. Arrival near the site, walk for an hour through the forest to reach Kbal Spean.

Day 13: Departure

Free at leisure until being transferred to the airport to take flight to leave Cambodia. End of services.
