Kampong Thom is a province of Cambodia. Its capital is Kampong Thom, a picturesque town on the banks of the Stung Saen river. Kampong Thom is one of the provinces that borders the Tonle Sap Great Lake.
Kampong Thom is Cambodia's second largest province by area. Prasat Sambor Prei Kuk and Prasat Andet are two of the main Angkorian temples in the province. There are a number of other significant Angkorian sites.
Is the launch pad for a visits to the pre-Angkor temple of Sambor Prei Kuk and the demote temples of Preah Vihear province. For most travelers the town is just a launch stop between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, which is a shame as it’s convenient insight into real Cambodia for those not venturing beyond Angkor and the capital.
