Itinerary: Vientiane - Luang Namtha - Muang Sing - Oudomxay - Muang Khoua - Luang Prabang (12 days)

Day 1. Arrival – Vientiane

Arriving Vientiane, you are met and transferred to hotel. Visiting Wat Sisaket - the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane, the Haw Prakeo - the former royal temple of Laos monarchy, where previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Statue. We then visit the imposing Patuxay Monument which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph before continuing to the famous That Luang Stupa. Overnight in Vientiane.  

Day 2: Vientiane - Luang Namtha - Moung Sing

We will board the flight to Luang Namtha  - a land of rugged mountains, beautiful tropical forest and rich of rivers plain in the border with China and Myanmar. On arrival, we travel by roads to Moung Sing, stopping along the way at the Akha hill tribe village. The Akha people was originally in China but immigrated into Laos down centuries. Overnight in Moung Sing.

Day 3: Moung Sing – Trekking 

Upon leaving the town we take a short drive north before we set off on a half-day walking, using the local tracks. We pass through the mountainous landscape to the Yao, Akha and Lanten hill tribe villages. Overnight at Moung Sing.

Day 4: Moung Sing–Luang Namtha–Oudomxay

Departure to Oudomxay. The verdant and rugged mountain scenery combined with the colorful local population makes for a memorable experience. Overnight at Oudomxay.

Day 5: Oudomxay – Muong La - Muong Khoua

We will set off on our journey along the Nambak River to Muong La. Visiting Praxack Kham Temple with its sacred Buddha image. This 400-year-old statue legendary possesses many supernatural powers, which are widely worshipped among local people. Leaving Muong La to Muong Khoua. Overnight in Muong Khoua.   

Day 6: Muong Khoua – Nongkhoiw – Luang Prabang (Boat)

Boat trip down stream for a trip on the Nam Ou River. Along the way we stop to visit the mysterious caves of Pak Ou which are crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various sizes. Over night in Luang Prabang.

Day 7: Luang Prabang City tours

Visiting the National Museum at the former Royal Palace, the magnificent Wat Xiengthong. Heading out of this area, we explore some other major sights including the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, the shrine of Wat Aham, the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and Wat Mai. Watch the spectacular sunset over the Mekong River from the top of Phousi Mount and explore Street Night Bazaar. Overnight at Luang Prabang.  

Day 8: Luang Prabang - Vang Vieng

Traveling by roads to Vang Vieng. Vang Vieng is a small town which is located on a bend in the Nam Song River. We embark on our boat for a well-paced trip on the Nam Song River, exploring the breathtaking mountain landscape. Over night in Vang Vieng

Day 9: Vang Vieng – Trekking 

Among the numerous caves and caverns, the most famous of these caves, Tham Jang, was used by local people around 200 years as a hideout from Chinese invaders. We visit this beautiful cave this morning before we take a walk to the Tai Deang and the Souay hill tribe villages. Over night in Vang Vieng.

Day 11: Vang Vieng – Vientiane

Driving back to Vientiane. Along the way we shall stop at the archaeological sight of Vang Xang dating back from the 11th century. After checking into hotel we transfer out to see the Buddha Park, a blend of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by mystical monk on parkland located by the Mekong River and the impressive Friendship Bridge which links Laos and Thailand. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 12: Vientiane Departure

The tour ends after your transfer to Wattay Airport or Friendship Bridge for departure. End of the tour.
